Captain Swan AU - Mermaid!Emma

Knowing other mermaids would disapprove of her choice, Emma decided to keep their relationship a secret, at least until she goes through with her plan, of seeking out Ursula, who could help her become human forever.

However, all secrets eventually come out, and when given the ultimatum, she makes her choice, and hopes that Killian would understand and won’t think she gave up on them.

As heartbroken as he felt when he watched Emma swim away, he understood her choice, she wanted him to live, but living without her was not something he was looking forward to. Luckily he didn’t have to, because a week later, she found him in a local tavern trying to drown his sorrows and failing.

He didn’t think he deserved her sacrifice, but she assured him it was something she wanted to do, luring sailors into their death was never her cup of tea. She just hoped that since she was no longer a mermaid, the others would leave them alone, but only time will tell.

He assured her that as long as they had each other they could do anything, and if those pesky mermaids ever come after them, he would gladly give up his ship and the sea, because she too is worth every sacrifice.
